Course overview

Intro to Construction is an entry-level course that will allow you to experience a variety of building trades, including Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, and Plasterwork.

Intro to Construction provides the employability skills you will need to enter the Construction Industry. You will learn basic skills that will give you the knowledge to apply for a higher-level course in a specific subject. We offer several of these further study courses at Edinburgh College.

This course is taught in Edinburgh College classrooms and workshops, where you will gain essential, hands-on, real-world experience in the construction trades.

You will be encouraged to gain a work placement with an employer within the industry for the duration of this course. This will be supported by your college lecturers, but it is not mandatory. Practical work experience with an employer allows you to gain knowledge of the construction industry and enhance your employability.
