Course overview
This qualification enables you to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), provided you have already achieved a relevant SCQF Level 7 qualification such as the SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
The course is suitable for individuals currently employed as support workers in settings such as:
- Care Homes
- Care at Home Services
- Housing Support Services
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) are work-based qualifications that assess the skills and knowledge required to carry out your role effectively. You will be allocated an assessor who will support you to gather and present evidence demonstrating that you meet the national occupational standards. Completion of this qualification will enable you to register with the SSSC in line with the requirements for your role.

What you will learn
- You will complete two SVQ supervisory units.
How the course is assessed
- The course is assessed holistically by reflective accounts, observations, tasks and questions.
Number of days per week
- Flexible learning.
- Regular 1-1 meetings with your workplace assessor, at your workplace, at a college campus or online.
Entry requirements
- Employed as a supervisor in care homes, care at home services for adults or housing support.
- You must have your employer's permission for our assessors to observe you at your workplace.
