Course overview

Access to Engineering is an entry-level course designed to give you the first step toward further study and a career in engineering.

This is an excellent option for preparing for a Modern Apprenticeship, as it combines practical skills with theory. If you choose a more academic route, it will give you the necessary grounding to pursue a career.

This is a college-devised SCQF level 5 equivalent.

  • Mechanical and Electrical Principles
  • Electrical Test and Measurement
  • Design and Manufacture
  • Graphic Communications, including Computer Aided Draughting
  • Practical Workshop skills
  • Maths and Communications

How the course is assessed

  • Portfolio based with some individual unit assessments.

Number of days per week

  • 3 days per week.
