Course overview
Building Services NPA is your first step towards a career in the plumbing industry. During this course, you will learn and understand the basic principles of plumbing, building and engineering services.
You will be taught by staff with extensive experience in the civil engineering industry. This course will encourage career progression and enhance your career prospects. This is a one-year full-time course taught at Edinburgh College’s Midlothian campus. On completion, you will be awarded a National Progression Award (NPA) in Building Services and be eligible to apply for the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme or continue with further education.

- Three days per week for 36 weeks
Entry requirements
- A minimum of National 4 in Mathematics.
Or
Successful completion, with good attendance, of one of the Edinburgh College Construction Courses
Intro to Construction.
- NPA Construction Crafts level 4.
- NPA Construction Skills level 5.

- Candidates who meet the entry requirements will be invited in for an interview before the end of the current academic term.
- In your personal statement, please clearly explain why you are interested and what motivates you to apply for this course.
- Candidates will be required to complete a numeracy diagnostic assessment during the interview; this will form part of the selection process. (Please advise in your personal statement any additional support needs for this test.)
