Edinburgh College Open Days attract more than a thousand prospective students

Edinburgh College’s 2026 Open Days event has proved to be a resounding success, with more than a thousand prospective students, and their families, coming along to explore new possibilities for their future.

Held across the College’s four campuses, the events offered an opportunity to learn more about what the College can offer, a chance to tour our top-class facilities, as well as get information about the application process, and how funding for studies works.

Attended by people of all different ages and backgrounds, the College welcomed school leavers looking to take their next step, alongside retirees looking to learn new skills and find new interests. Our curriculum staff were on hand to answer any questions they may have, and tell them why Edinburgh College is the right place for them.

Despite some pretty dreich weather across the week, there was still a huge amount of interest in the courses that the College has on offer, with hundreds of people also signing up for guided tours around our various departments.

Richard Johnman, Edinburgh College’s Student Experience Manager - Recruitment & Admissions, was impressed by the turnout:

“It was really incredible to welcome more than a thousand prospective new students through our doors, and to give them a real idea of what they can expect during their studies at Edinburgh College. It’s amazing to see the range of people who are curious and enthusiastic about studying here, from school leavers to those looking to change careers entirely. We’d like to congratulate everyone involved in putting the events on, for working so hard and for showing off our facilities so proudly. We hope to welcome back many of those in attendance after the summer, as full-fledged Edinburgh College students!”

Edinburgh College's Principal, Audrey Cumberford, said the College continues to be an attractive destination for students:

“It’s testament to the strength of the College’s course offerings that more than a thousand people took time out of their days to come along and see how we can help to shape their futures. There was a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity on display, and it was great to see so much excitement amongst prospective students, and their family and friends. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and look forward to welcoming them back in August.”
