Edinburgh College picks up four nominations at Herald Higher Education Awards
Edinburgh College has picked up four nominations at the 2025 Herald Higher Education Awards for Further and Higher Education to be held later this month.
Each nomination was in a different category, showing the strength and depth of the work that has been done at the College over the past year.
The School of Music, Media and Sound Production was nominated in the ‘Innovative Use of Technology’ category for the development of the Dolby Atmos Studio, a state-of-the-art production facility that ensures students develop their skillset using industry-standard equipment.
The College’s Modern Languages Department received a nomination in the ‘Partnership with Schools’ category for their work with schools the length and breadth of the country to deliver National Qualifications in Modern Languages to young people through an innovative online model.
The Art of Inclusion project created by the College with Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival receives a nomination in the ‘Outstanding Business Engagement’ category after it facilitated students to travel across the globe to enhance their educational experience by working with local arts groups to develop their creative skills and engage with people from cultures.
And Music and Sound Production lecturer Jess Abrams is nominated for the ‘Outstanding Contribution by a Staff Member’ award for her work developing EC Sessions – a community music programme which provides young people across the city with music making opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have access to.
Speaking after the nominations were announced, Principal Audrey Cumberford said:
“These nominations are something we should rightly be proud of. Every day there is amazing work being done across all areas of the College, and it’s great that some of this has been recognised at these awards.
“Each of these is an example of the College and its staff going above and beyond to deliver for students. Whether it’s in providing extra sessions, the latest technical equipment or opportunities to travel around the world - we’re delivering for learners in Edinburgh.”
