Course overview
This course prepares you with the skills and knowledge required to work in Administration roles within a modern office environment. You will develop your IT skills using Microsoft Office packages such as Teams, Sway, Word, Excel and Access. You will develop the Meta skills required by all employers.
For those whose first language is not English, you will study Business English - preparing you for further study.
Throughout the course you will develop:
- technical and administrative knowledge relevant to current administrative practice
- personal effectiveness
- communication and presentation techniques
- awareness of professional issues such as legal, data management and ethical considerations
- interpersonal skills relevant to an administrative role
- study and research skills
What you will learn
You will develop ICT skills relevant to a modern office environment as well as becoming with familiar with the administrative requirements of an organisation. Subjects include
- IT in Business: Word Processing and Presentation Applications
- IT in Business: Spreadsheets
- IT in Business: Databases
- Digital Technologies for Administrators
- Recording Financial Transactions
- Personal Development Planning
- Communication: Business Communication
- Administration and Information Technology: Graded Unit 1
- Business English (for students whos first langauge is not English)

- Administration Graded Unit has end-of-unit closed book assessment

Entry requirements
- Minimum of Two relevant Highers at Grade C or above PLUS a minimum of four National 5s at Grade C or above in relevant subjects, these must include English or Maths (equivalent) and IT based subjects; other subjects may include Business related subjects, Social and Science based subjects; OR
- Any relevant National Certificate Group Award at SCQF level 5 or 6; OR
- SVQ Business Administration Level 3.; OR
- Any relevant level 6 Medical Administration qualification
Candidates will be considered on an individual basis
