Course overview
This course is for S5 and S6 pupils who are still at school.
This course introduces learners to the nature of health and social care work. It includes investigating the types of health and social care establishments that are available and the roles of care workers in these settings. Candidates will also be investigating the principles of good care practice and exploring what constitutes day to daycare work, for example identifying people’s needs and strengths and learning how care workers try to meet those needs through care plans.

Number of days per week
- 2 afternoons per week: Tuesday & Thursday 1:30 pm - 4.00 pm
Entry requirements
- Health and Social Care National 5 or four National 5’s (including English)
- A genuine interest in working in/studying health and social care
- If you want to progress onto full-time health courses at SCQF Level 6 you must have a National 5 Biology or Higher Biology for HNC Care and Administrative Practice.
