Cambridge CELTA
CELTA is an internationally recognised qualification for those starting a career in English Language teaching. This initial teacher training course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to teach English effectively in different learning environments.
During the course, you will:
- Study teaching theory and methodology
- Learn how to analyse language through tasks and discussions
- Observe experienced English Language teachers
- Complete six hours of teaching practice
Course Delivery
CELTA courses are available in Edinburgh and online.
The next full-time course in Edinburgh will run for four weeks from 20 June to 15 July 2022.
Assessment
To complete the CELTA qualification, you must complete:
- Four written assignments
- Six hours of assessed teaching practice
Course Schedule
- Full-time: 30 hours per week plus additional self-study
- This is an intensive course, and participants should expect to dedicate significant time to independent study.
Entry Requirements
To apply for the CELTA course, you must:
- Be at university entry level with an IELTS score of 7.5 or equivalent
- Pass a selection interview
Places on CELTA courses are limited, so early application is recommended.
