Celebrations at Prize Giving 2024

In a vibrant celebration of dedication and achievement, over 150 students, accompanied by their friends, family and college staff, gathered to celebrate their exceptional accomplishments over the past year at Edinburgh College’s annual Prize Giving ceremony.

The event, held at the College’s Granton Campus last Thursday (6 June), was a momentous occasion which saw awards presented to further education (FE) students from the College’s four faculties: Creative Industries; Construction and Engineering; Health, Wellbeing and Social Sciences; and Tourism, Hospitality and Business.

National and local radio presenter Micky Gavin hosted the evening, where prizes were awarded to outstanding FE students, Schools College Partnership (SCP) students, as well as Foundation and Modern Apprentices.

Prize Giving celebrates the academic achievements and dedication of students, recognising their ability to balance home life, work, and their studies. Awards included Recognition Awards for those who have gone above and beyond, Academic Excellence Awards, and each curriculum area's Student of the Year award.

Principal Audrey Cumberford and Edinburgh College Board of Management members also presented special awards for Outstanding Achievement to Nataliya Lyalyuk and Debbie Kasmi, while Andre Akheer Garcia was named International Student of the Year.

Prize Giving is a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to the hard work and determination our FE students have demonstrated throughout the year. It was a fantastic evening, made even more special by sharing it with so many of our students’ family members, friends, and loved ones. Our prize winners should be extremely proud of their accomplishments this year. Whether they continue with further studies or enter the workforce, I wish them the very best in the next chapter of their journey.
