#ECGrad – Jessica graduates after ‘unforgettable’ experience at College

Twenty-four-year-old Jessica Plebanik came to College to further her knowledge and develop the culinary skills to one day own her own business, and now leaves with an SVQ 3 in Professional Cookery (Patisserie and Confectionery), as well as the Chair’s Award for Academic excellence.

We caught up with Jessica, who is originally from Poland, to find out more about her College experience and her plans for the future:

How do you feel about Graduating?

I feel very accomplished and ecstatic at what I have achieved over the past two years.

What made you choose Edinburgh College for your studies?

I choose Edinburgh College as it offered a course that I wanted to pursue.

How have you enjoyed your Edinburgh College experience? Do you have any highlights?

I enjoyed my time at Edinburgh College enormously! A major highlight for me was when I got to travel to Italy to experience different types of patisserie.

Have you faced any challenges, either before starting or during your studies? How did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge was keeping up with the fast-paced teaching. I overcame this due to my dedication and really good teachers who provided support whenever needed.

If you could give one piece of advice to a student starting at the college now, what would it be?

Don't give up, work hard and pursue your dreams!

Do you have any messages for the lecturers?

Boyd has been an amazing lecturer who was able to assist with anything. He is extremely supportive and knowledgeable. He was the best lecture that I have ever had, I am very grateful for him being my teacher.

What are your plans for the future? Are you going on to further study after college or into employment? What is your end goal?

My plans are to open my own business and be self-employed.

Finish this sentence: “My Edinburgh College experience has been...”.

Unforgettable and rewarding.
