Edinburgh College duo excited to start next chapter at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

An Edinburgh College duo will follow in the footsteps of some of Scotland’s most talented performers, as they progress on to further study at a prestigious performing arts institution after two years at the College.

HND Musical Theatre students Morvern Fyffe and Loren Wigley will complete their BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – an institution whose alumni includes successful actors, writers and performers, such as Sam Heughan, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, David Tennent, and Ncuti Gatwa.

We recently caught up with Morvern and Loren to find more about their college experience and their plans for the future:

How does it feel to be accepted into the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland?

They said: “We are both absolutely ecstatic to be attending Royal Conservatoire of Scotland after the Summer. We have worked so hard throughout the audition process, so when we were offered our places we were over the moon, especially because we are going to be able to go together.”

What made you choose Edinburgh College for your studies?

Morvern said: “I had a friend who studied on the musical theatre course here a few years ago and I used to really enjoy coming to see the shows. The campus is also fairly near my house meaning I didn’t need to move away which was perfect.”

Loren said: “I wanted to move out and explore a new city and when I saw I could study Musical Theatre in Edinburgh it seemed perfect.”

What has been the highlight of your college experience so far?

They said: “We have loved meeting so many new people including lecturers, classmates and industry professionals. The amount of opportunities this course has given us has been amazing. Our favourites being a trip to New York, performing at the CDN awards, and playing the title character in Sweet Charity the Musical for our final show.”

What would you say to someone thinking about studying at College?

They said: “We would definitely recommend Edinburgh College. We have had a fantastic two years on the course and have learned so much. The advice we would give to someone thinking about studying here would be to be prepared to put in a lot of hours and hard work. The course has taught us that if you have determination this will be rewarded and you will see an improvement in yourself.”

What would you like to do in future? What is your end goal?

Morvern said: “My dream is to work professionally in the industry. I would love to one day perform in the west end.”

Loren commented: “My dream is to experience so many different sides of the industry from stage to screen.”
