PASS students take part in Dance Festival with peers from across Scotland
Last month (24 January), students at our Performing Arts Studio Scotland (PASS) were joined by more than 80 dance students from across Scotland to come together for a day of dance workshops and performances. Groups of students were invited to take part from Glasgow Clyde College, Dundee and Angus College, Dance for All and Lothian Youth Dance Company.
All the participants worked with guest dance artists Alan Greig (Alan Greig Dance) and Kevin Turner (Company Chameleon) as well as PASS Dance staff Hannah Mason and Roz Hoyte. The workshops focused on dance technique and creative sessions to bring together all the dancers in an inclusive and fun way to meet and work with fellow dance students studying in Scotland.
Each participating group brought a dance performance piece that had been choreographed for the event. These pieces were shared to each other in the PASS theatre. PASS Technical Theatre students provided sound and lighting for all the groups under the support from staff member Bruce Cassidy.
The Dance Festival was a hugely successful day in bringing together like-minded dancers into PASS to share and appreciate each other’s talent. We were able to provide the participants with the opportunity to experience fabulous workshops with guests and staff. The variety in the dance pieces and the infectious energy of all the performers was a joy and a privilege to see.Winifred Jamieson, Head of School: Performing Arts and Photography
