Course overview
This 18-week course is an exciting first step for those looking to enter the world of Beauty Consultancy; working on skin bars, makeup and fragrance counters.
The course covers the principles of skincare and skin care products, carrying out facials to prepare the skin for make-up, eye and lash services and eyebrow artistry.
You will learn how to correctly carry out facial treatments and apply makeup for all skin types and ethnicities, and to enhance your learning journey, for the very first time you will explore and understand the world of perfumery learning about top, middle and base notes and have the opportunity to use this knowledge to make your perfume essence which will bring all your consultancy skills together in a realistic working environment whilst having the chance to visit and experience some of Edinburgh’s finest makeup counters

Placement information
- All students at this level will take part in a work placement programme for one week (9.00 AM to 4.00 PM) in May
Please Note - this is a mandatory aspect of the course
How the course is assessed
- All practical assessments are carried out on paying clients within our salons.
- Assessment of theory will include portfolio building, open and closed book assessments.
Number of days per week
- 2 days per week (between 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM)
Entry requirements
- You must be 16 years of age or older before the start date of the course
- You must hold a minimum of two National 5s or equivalent preferably in English and Biology
- Mature returners entry with a successful interview
