Course overview
This is a 1-year course for 6th-year school pupils. Students will attend College on Tuesdays and Thursdays and complete their work-based placement on Fridays.
Students that complete this course will complete 8 SQA units, which include a National Progression Award and 4 Scottish Vocational units.

Placement information
- You will be required to complete a placement in community care or in a day care resources for adults or older adults.
- In day care services workers provide a supportive environment for individuals to develop skills and participate in a wide range of activities such as arts and crafts, music, games and sports.
- A placement offering this experience could be a day centre attached to a residential home for older adults or a community support resource centre supporting people with learning difficulties to use leisure facilities.

Entry requirements
- Health and Social Care National 5 or four National 5’s (including English) and a genuine interest in working/studying health and social care.
- You will be invited to a madatory information session before they are offered a place on this course.

- Pupils who wish to use this course for entry requirements for a Nursing Degree must also have Higher English and Higher Biology.
