Course overview

The “Further Computing and Digital Media” course at SCQF Level 4 is an 18-week program starting in January. It aims to provide students with foundational skills and knowledge in computing and digital media, preparing them for further education or entry-level roles in the industry.

What you will learn

  • Basic Computing Skills: Including MS Office and data handling.
  • Digital Media: Project planning, execution, and multimedia software use.
  • Game Development: Introduction to designing and reviewing games.
  • Communication: Enhancing both written and verbal skills.
  • Career Preparation: Understanding job roles in the industry.

This course provides a solid foundation for further study or entry-level computing and digital media roles.

How the course is assessed

  • Practical Projects: Hands-on tasks to apply skills in real-world scenarios.
  • Written Assignments: Planning documents, project reports, and reflective essays.
  • Observations: Tutors observe and evaluate your work using checklists.
  • Self-Evaluation: You will assess your progress and identify areas for improvement.

Number of days per week

  • 3 days per week, Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday

Entry requirements

  • You must have completed an "Introduction to Computing and Digital Media" or other relevant course

Or

  • Industry experience.

  • You may be required to attend an information / selection day or interview prior to acceptance upon the course. 

English Proficiency Requirements

IELTS Score: A minimum overall score of 5.5, with no individual component below 5.0

Progression and Articulation Routes

  • SCQF Level 5 Courses: Students can advance to higher-level courses such as the NC in Computing with Digital Media at SCQF Level 5. 


 

Career options

  • Entry-Level Positions: The skills gained can help secure entry-level roles in the computing and digital media industry, such as junior digital media assistant or IT support roles.
