Painting and Decorating at Level 7 (Advanced Craft) will provide practical opportunities for developing advanced skills that are valid and relevant to the world of work.
The PDA has been specifically designed for experienced candidates already working in the Painting and Decorating Industry.
The course is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to advance your existing craft skills and offer opportunities for progression to further academic and/or professional qualifications.

- Painting and Decorating: Applying Metal Leaf and Powder
- Painting and Decorating: Applying Specialised Wallcoverings
- Painting and Decorating: Colour and Design
- Painting and Decorating: Papering Complex Surfaces
- Painting and Decorating: Producing Faux Finishes
How the course is assessed
- Continuous assessment throughout the course.
Number of days per week
- Duration: 10 weeks, on a 1 week on, 1 week off rota.
- Attendance: Monday to Friday on a block release.
- Schedule: From the start of November 2025 until the end of March 2026.
Entry requirements
- Have achieved PDA Level 6 Painting and Decorating qualification. Current 3rd and 4th Year MA students and candidates who have completed the Modern Apprenticeship are invited to apply.
- Current students in our 2nd Year Painting and Decorating MA programme can also apply, as they are working towards completion for the remainder of semester 2.

- All applicants who meet the entry requirements will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
