Edinburgh College Students Attend Inspiring Outdoor Arts Conference
A group of Edinburgh College students recently attended a conference celebrating outdoor arts at one of Glasgow’s top venues.
HN1 Acting students attended ‘The Power of the Possible: A Day of Outdoor Arts in Glasgow’ conference, hosted by Surge and Outdoor Arts, at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall. They listened to talks from industry leading professionals and also enjoyed a private Q&A session with the Executive Director of Outdoor Arts UK, Angus MacKechnie.
The students got to learn about types of work currently happening across the UK and Ireland, hear pitches from artists about their new projects and got to see some performances from physical theatre/outdoor artists.
The trip supports the students in the Site Specific and Street Theatre Unit of their course and will help them in further collaborative projects which take place in February.
Outdoor Arts UK is a national membership and strategic organisation that aims to bring together the many diverse parts of the Outdoor Arts sector. Outdoor Arts UK celebrates the wonderful work, amazing talent and tremendous achievements of the brilliant individuals, companies and organisations working in this most accessible of art forms.
Performing Arts Lecturer Ashling Findlay-Carroll said: “The conference takes place in a different UK city every year and this is the first time our students have been able to attend. The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and have taken away a lot of inspiration ahead of the final part of the unit they are working on.”
