Course overview
This evening course is designed for beginners with little or no Art and Design experience or adults and school pupils who would like to develop their skills further to produce a portfolio and support with UCAS for successful application to Art College.
You will explore a variety of art and design disciplines, media and techniques within our specialist art and design studios at Granton. The emphasis will be on drawing and the creative process. You will look at the use of the sketchbook to help explore and present your work, both in research and the development of ideas and interests. This is a very important element of any successful portfolio. You will also create resolved work that will link to the sketchbook work whilst being able to stand on its own. As a part of the process, you will investigate various ways artists have explored and expressed the visual world.
The course will ensure you are well prepared to progress onto study at a higher level at Art College or on one of our full-time courses in the School of Art and Design at Edinburgh College.
