This is a popular course and can either be studied on a Monday or Thursday evening. Please indicate which day you are applying for in the personal statement part of your application.
Introduction to Fashion and Textiles 2 is designed for adults and school pupils with a keen interest in this subject or beginners with little or no Fashion and Textiles experience who would like to develop skills and understanding in this area.
You will be introduced to the principles of Fashion and Textiles Design and this course is suitable for new students and those progressing on from Introduction to Fashion and Textiles 1.
You will develop an artistic ability and skills and techniques required to construct a basic garment or accessory which you will make on the course. Working in the Fashion and Textiles studios you will be given training on how to use domestic sewing machines and overlockers and garment construction, fabric dyeing, embroidery and embellishment techniques. The course includes pattern cutting for beginners to support basic garment or accessory design and construction.
This course will ensure you are well prepared to progress onto study at a higher level at Art College or on one of our full-time courses in the School of Art and Design at Edinburgh College.

- No formal qualifications required but students should have an interest within the specialist area of Fashion and Textiles.

This course can help students with build Fashion and Textiles skills and provide course work for portfolio submissions to further specialist courses in Fashion and Textiles and Art and Design courses. Previous evening class students have progressed onto our well recognised UAL Diplomas and specialist NCs and HNDs before University and employment within the Creative Industries.
