Joanne completes CIM Marketing qualification at the Capital College
Joanne Mills, Marketing Activity Lead at ScotlandIS recently graduated from our CIM Level 4 Certificate course in Professional Digital Marketing. We caught up with Joanne to find out more about her experience on the course.
Why did you decide to study at Edinburgh College?
Edinburgh College is very local to me and the College has a very strong reputation for this particular course.
What are the key things you have learned in the course?
How beneficial it is to have your whole team aligned with an ongoing campaign and its goals; it makes buy-in from management much easier and genuinely increases your success.
How has the course helped you in your current role?
I can better structure my campaign plans - some of the theoretical models were really helpful in ensuring I was more organised with my planning and measuring how I was achieving my goals. I felt more confident in presenting plans and ideas because I could show what the project should look like from start to finish, and what we should be able to achieve.
How has the experience of learning while working been? Has it been easy to manage with your job?
It was tricky, particularly around the written assignments, but I think I was more motivated to work harder than when I was an undergrad because I knew I only had a finite amount of time. Having one class a week meant the course was quite easy to fit around work and personal life, and I also really enjoyed it, so that helped a lot!
Do you have any messages for your lecturer?
Joanne was a great support, made everything really clear to understand and went out of her way to provide one-on-one advice sessions when you needed it. Her learning content was really varied, with lots of videos, images and group discussion, which made the classes interesting.
If you could describe your learning experience in three words, what would they be?
Rewarding, stimulating, challenging.
